VC - Senior Technical Staff, Product Development / Process and Operations

MAJOR INTEREST AND SKILLS
FPD manufacturing start up and ramp-up, technology management for flat panel display products. Solid State Physics, FPDs, thin film materials and devices, manufacturing processes and machines, technical management, start-up team leadership.

EXPERIENCE
Two years as Special Projects Consultant directing thin film material and polymer material process development for FPD and optical MEMS applications. Included new cleanroom start-up, and production process development.

Three years as a visiting research scientist at the Electronics Manufacturing Laboratory, University of Michigan.

Fifteen years as a senior corporate technical manager at Optical Imaging Systems, Inc., developing new approaches to business and technology. Product development and production transfer successfully completed on a variety of FPDs. Directed team in planning, design, and construction of an LCD FPD production facility, with full technical and budget responsibility. This included a major advanced cleanroom complex and complete equipment installation: large substrate robotic handling, thin film deposition, plasma processing, photolithography, color processing, electronic assembly, and testing. Actively involved in collaboration with equipment vendors to develop advanced production equipment. Project Budget over $100M.

Generated and directed several development contracts with different funding agencies. Experience in technology transfer for licensing arrangements. Serves as external director on the board of an innovative high-tech equipment company. Corporate representative for boards of various industry consortia groups.

Over twenty years experience in large area thin film technology. Developed materials, processes, and machines for thin film metals, insulators, and semiconductors in various imaging and display applications.

Previous experience as Senior Research Physicist and Assistant Professor.

Author/co-author of over forty issued U.S. patents in thin film devices, FPDs, and imaging technology. Many journal articles, publications, and meeting presentations.
