Visual Basic Programmer / Developer
Job Description:

Visual Basic Programmer / Developer needed to support AccessTM and database development for internal design application for an Architectural and Engineering firm in Tempe, Arizona.

This position requires attention to detail, collaborative brianstorming, design and development of MS Access major and minor applications and components to support A/E design deliverables.

  • Design, develop test and deliver initial release, enhancements, and defect resolution for proprietary AccessTM applications and components.
  • Perform analysis on and recommend improvement strategies for current technical solutions being used by the Engineering and Design team. Recommendations will be provided by Managers for feedback and appproval. Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical engineering experiance is a plus.
  • Create user manuals and FAQ links for the web applications to ensure users understand the application and how to use it.
  • Use key elements of the System Development Life Cycle to create a clear and consise program specification including a flow chart showing the system process flow, to ensure that users' unexpected return on programs are met. Review program specifications with Managers for feedback and approval prior to coding.
  • Devise solutions to system related problems / issues.
  • Involves frequent communication and close cooperation with users and other support staff.
  • Develops and tests applications, maintains, revises, updates current code - including troubleshooting and improving functionality.
  • Works with users for support of existing application software.
  • Training users to be successful with the application software, including upgrades, changes, and new features.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other relevant field.
  • 2-3 years of work experience.
  • Proficient in Visual Basic for Applications (for Microsoft AccessTM).
  • Proficient in Microsoft AccessTM and ExcelTM
  • WExperience and proficiency in developign Application Programming Interfaces (API) - Example AccessTM to Revit interface.
